L-Thiaproline has been used in the synthesis of farnesyl protein transferase inhibitors. Senten et al. used Thz to obtain DPP II and DPP IV inhibitors. Reduction of thioproline with sodium in liquid ammonia yields N-methyl-cysteine. Thioproline inhibits development of esophageal adenocarcinoma induced by gastroduodenal reflux in rats.
